Taught by Alora Cheek
This class is for advanced improvisers only. Learn how to put a story together, not just long scenes in a random pattern. In this class I will teach you how to improvise a full story with a beginning, middle, end with subplots, characters.... you name it. We will start out learning how to a 15-20 minute story. Once that skill is learned, longer stories can be practiced. This is a complicated skill. Be easy on yourself. Don't expect perfection in 8 weeks. Expect to be challenged and to laugh. A lot. Have fun getting stuck, getting lost, and learning how to find your way out. (It happens, it's improv!) Have fun searching when an offer is lost and it has to be dug out again. (It happens, it's improv!) Most of all: exercise the story part of your improv brain so you can create, create, create. If you are not sure this class is for you, contact me. If you know you are ALL IN, reserve your spot now while I have spots. People have been asking me to teach this class for a long, long time. Space Is Limited To 10

About The Instructor
Alora Cheek began her improv training in Los Angeles in 1997 with a group called Los Angeles Theatresports. A story-based improv group, she began her career simply asking "where are these two chairs?" After a stint in San Diego she moved to San Jose in 2006 where there were no long form groups. That is when she learned the art and science of Short Form. (A format she still loves and teaches.) Gibberish, anyone? But now, after people have been asking for a long, long time, she is happy to offer a Long Form Improv class where the story is key, the scenes are longer, the flow is a puzzle the group puts together on the spot, and the result is magical. In addition to improv, Alora has a degree in Secondary Education, a Masters in Theatre, a past career as an internet project/relationship manager, and over 15 years doing personal growth coaching and training. She lives in Boise with her active imagination, her husband, her three homeschooled kids, and one very fluffy dog. To see her improv performance schedule, visit AloraCheek.com. |
